Bi-Lingual Carer Support Worker (Urdu)

 

Lanarkshire Carers Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Bi-lingual Support Worker
to work as part of our team providing support to Carers who are affected by Blood Borne Viruses.

 

The candidate will need to possess a sound knowledge of working with black and minority ethnic communities
(BME) and an understanding of the barriers BME carers
face in accessing services, as well as an understanding
of blood borne viruses
.

 

The post holder will be required to support Carers in a variety of services such as information, translation,
1:1/group support and interpret/communicate with other users and staff as appropriate.
 

 

The candidate must be able to communicate in Urdu, (both written and oral).

 

This post is 20 hour p/w and is funded by NHS Lanarkshire till March 2011

Salary Scale AP3/4 £19,453 - £25,767 pro-rata

Salary NLC7 £18,813 - £22,371 Pro Rata

Based in the Bellshill Area CL & D Office, and working in partnership with the local mosque,
you will support the local Community Learning & Development team in the delivery and
development of the core functions of Community Learning & Development Lifelong Learning,
Community Capacity Building and Youth Work.

Your main duties will include supporting the development and delivery of CL & D programmes
which reflect community needs and council priorities, developing links with other agencies, supporting
and supervising Assistant Support Workers, participating in authority wide working groups and initiatives
as required and preparing and submitting reports and evaluations including statistical returns.

You must have a minimum of 2 years previous experience of working within a Community Learning
and Development environment, be a team player with good interpersonal and organisational skills,
along with a good working knowledge of specific learning programmes being developed including
national and local developments. Good written communications skills, and the ability to work on your
own initiative are essential, as is the ability to travel throughout North Lanarkshire. Good local knowledge,
previous experience of sourcing and receiving external funding and support and supervision of staff are desirable.

This post is temporary until March 2011

Anyone wanting to bring old but cloths in good condition can bring them to only on Jumma Friday 7th Aug.
