About Our Masjid

Lanarkshire Central Mosque, located in Mossend, Bellshill, is more than just a place of worship—it is the heart of the local Muslim community. Established in 1986 under the guidance of the Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society, the mosque serves as a vital hub where faith, education, and community spirit come together. Serving the muslim community, it offers daily prayers, religious services, and educational programs in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, and Urdu.

Recognised for its welcoming atmosphere, Lanarkshire Central Mosque serves as a safe and inclusive space where individuals can gather, pray, and find solace. The mosque offers essential facilities such as disabled access, gender-specific prayer areas, and ample parking, ensuring accessibility for all. It also provides a supportive environment for personal reflection and spiritual growth, with experienced Imams available to offer guidance and reassurance. Additionally, the mosque extends its commitment to community well-being through its Citizens Advice service, offering support and advice to those in need.

Lanarkshire Central Mosque plays an active role in cultural and educational outreach, not only supporting the local Muslim population but also fostering community cohesion. It works closely with local councils, police, churches, and health boards to bring people from all backgrounds together, promoting understanding and unity. As part of its commitment to inclusivity, the mosque has historically welcomed the wider public during Scotland’s Doors Open Days, offering visitors insights into Islamic culture, architecture, and the mosque’s various community initiatives. The mosque remains dedicated to the welfare and safety of all, ensuring that it continues to serve as a bridge between communities.
